In memory of Fumitoshi Yonemura, who was killed yesterday morning by a car while crossing an intersection.

Fumi had graduated last year, and I had met him a couple times and we talked too. He was quiet; yet he was resilient in what he did and one of the most geniunely kind people I've ever met.
I remember playing in Toilet Bowl - our little flag football tournament - with Fumi on my team, and though he didn't brag about it or show it, he was a great team member: a fast runner, a hard worker, and a good supporter.

And I still remember my freshmen year of track; he was a senior, and one of the best sprinters on our team. Everyday at practice, he ran hard and never gave up. Every meet, he would always run that 400m dash with confidence and a passion to win. A model example of who people should look up to. Anyone could look at him and say, "That's Fumi - he's probably one of the best people on our team." A statement that could be said with confidence.

I'm blessed to have been able to know Fumi, but I wish I could have gotten to know him more. Granted, it was difficult to talk considering we didn't have classes together and everything, but even so I wish we could have talked more. From what I have known, he was a great person. It's too bad the world had to lose a person like Fumi yesterday morning. It was really very hard to believe it was true.

But there's still a peace of mind knowing he's in a better place now; up in heaven with God. I'm thankful God has blessed everyone Fumi has met with being able to know him and what a difference he's made to many peoples' lives. I thank God for letting me have the honor of being able to know Fumi. I can only pray now that Fumi's family will think the same and praise the Lord for letting Fumi live such a great life. I'm glad Fumi's in a better place now. He deserves the best, and that's with God.

Live your life to the fullest; you never know when it'll be your last day.
